| The sanitary sewer system collects wastewater from inside homes, businesses, and industries. Flushing the toilet, taking a shower or bath, running the washing machine and dishwasher are all examples of everyday activities that produce wastewater. This wastewater travels through underground pipes to deliver the wastewater to Easterly Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment. |

The storm sewer system was designed to quickly drain rainwater from paved streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and roofs during a heavy storm. Once the water enters the storm drain system, it flows through pipes underground until it is discharged into Ulatis and Alamo creeks or other waterbodies, and DOES NOT RECEIVE ANY TREATMENT AT ALL!
